Who we are

Fernando Jonas Sutili studied Veterinary Medicine and Animal Husbandry at the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM). He holds a M.Sc. and a doctorate in Pharmacology (Pharmacology Applied to Animal Production) from the same institution, and participated in a Sandwich PhD Program at Texas A&M University (TAMU, USA) - Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences. Fernando completed a Postdoctoral Degree in Fish Production and Health at UFSM and at the University of Passo Fundo (UPF), where he worked at the Laboratory of Microbiology and Advanced Immunology. His professional experience is within the area of fish nutrition and health, with emphasis on the use of phytogenic compounds to enhance performance and health.

Eduardo Kelm Battisti completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Husbandry at the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM), and holds a Master Degree and a PhD in Animal Husbandry from UFSM. Eduardo was an exchange student at the University of Zaragoza (Spain) during his graduate course, where he worked with trout production in raceways. He collaborated on extension/fish farming courses and projects linked to UFSM-PM in partnership with Emater-RS. In his doctoral studies, Eduardo researched about growth and health of fish cultured in biofloc-BFT system. His area of expertise is aquaculture, with emphasis on fish handling, rearing and nutrition.

Luciane Tourem Gressler holds Bachelor's degrees in Social Communication and Veterinary Medicine from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM). She completed her MSc and PhD in Pharmacology as well as her Postdoctoral Studies in Animal Biodiversity at the same university. She has experience in Pharmacology Applied to Animal Production, with emphasis on Pharmacology and Toxicology in Fish, especially regarding the action of natural and synthetic pharmacological substances (e.g., anesthetics and antioxidants), stress and morphophysiological alterations.
